It is said that this temple was built by Tokuitsu in 830. In the past, it was a temple used for the ascetic training of priests.

The hall is made from stone and stands at 14.5 meters tall; it is reminiscent of the Kiyomizu Temple stage in Kyoto. The kannon is said to watch over all, ready to help should someone call out for help.

A smaller, stone Buddhist statue is also enshrined here; it is sometimes referred to as the Kubinashi Kannon (the “No Neck” Kannon). A very small pillar is hidden in the temple, said to bring happiness to whomever finds it.
